A selection of favorite pieces I’ve had published other places…

Written from afar for the Climate Impacts Research Centre in Sweden:

  • I got an early, behind-the-scenes glance at groundbreaking and terrifying permafrost research when I interviewed scientists Frida Keuper and Birgit Wild for this article.*

  • I ended up with a stunning drawing on my wall after writing this piece about the many projects of Spanish mire enthusiast, physicist, and fieldwork artist Carolina Olid.*

  • Writing this profile, I got to know fellow remote intern Alex Batchelor, a PhD student who, quite unlike me, came to science communications by way of a very scientific background.*

  • For this article, I talked to Ian Henshaw and Keith Larson about the myriad joys, trials, and tribulations of ringing birds in Europe.*

  • Andrew MacDougall and Ellen Esch deepened and complicated my understanding of climate change when I interviewed them about Arctic greening for this article.*

  • I conducted a series of interviews with immersive audio artist Tim Bishop, following his experiences over the course of one year as he returned to Abisko, Sweden, time and again in the name of art. The five resulting articles can be found here.

*Due to changes to arcticcirc.net, where these pieces were originally published, they now exist only as PDFs courtesy of Wayback Machine. Apologies for poor formatting!

Selected alumni profiles written for the American School in London:

  • I traveled to the stunning Scottish Highlands in early June 2025 to profile hotelier power-siblings Sanjay and Rachna Narang, and stayed at one of their beautiful Black Sheep Hotels while there. This is what I wrote afterward.

  • David Bowen, former health policy director for Senator Ted Kennedy, gave me the inside scoop on what it was like writing the Affordable Care Act for this feature.

  • I caught up with my former classmate Ben Shields to hear about his pathway to Know-Me, the AI startup he founded with a best friend of his—and wrote this piece after our conversation.

  • Just before Valentine’s Day, I had the immense pleasure and privilege of interviewing two high school sweethearts–turned–partners (57 years later!) for this article.

  • Florence “Cuppy” Otedola is as much a philanthropist and international human rights advocate as she is a celebrity DJ, and she and I sat down to chat about what it’s like to do it all, here.

  • Eugenia Cavarretta is a teacher—and a recipe developer, TikToker, and marketing director on the side. She’s helping her mother run a high-end olive oil business from their family farm in Sicily, and I talked to her all about it for this piece.

  • Jeannine Saba, London independent magazine publisher extraordinaire, gave me a peek into her decadent, beautiful world—which she runs single-handedly from her Covent Garden flat—for this profile.

  • Newly minted New York Times journalist Michaela Towfighi was still writing for New Hampshire’s Concord Monitor—and winning lots of awards doing it—when I got the chance to speak with her for the first feature I wrote in my tenure as alumni engagement manager at the American School in London.

Arts and culture reporting for the Chicago Maroon:

  • I binge-watched The Circle in record time for “research” preceding my interview with, and subsequent profile of, UChicago third year–turned–reality star Jack Atkins.

  • For this piece, I debated the relative merits and faults of lesbian icon King Princess—and got absurdly close to the stage as a press photographer.

  • I’ve witnessed at least an entire lifecycle of a Facebook phenomenon called “Poll Party” since its 2016 inception, and I reported on the viral trend here.

  • The first time I ever conducted an interview, it was to ask my gamer friend Elliot about his four years spent floating on the periphery of a Media Arts and Design minor for this article.
